- An eating disorder is a disturbance of eating behaviour, with a characteristic abnormal thinking pattern, an extreme preoccupation with body shape and weight, and body disparagement. People can frequently move between the different categories of eating disorders, and experience other mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, obsessional traits and personality disorders. Some of the behaviours associated with eating disorders can lead to serious physical health problems.
- Eating disorder is considered as a mental health condition which involves eating habits or behaviors that disturbs the ingestion of food, persistent disruption of the absorption of the essential nutrients required for physical and mental health development. This unhealthy habit can make an individual eat too much or too little. All healthcare professionals ensure that children and young people with suspected eating disorders who have been referred to an eating disorder service start assessment and treatment within 4 weeks, referral for adults should start assessment and treatment within agreed timeframe.
- The training will enhance your knowledge and skills in looking after a patient with eating disorder.
